Ingredients:

  • 1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 carrots, julienned
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Optional garnish: sesame seeds, sliced green onions

Instructions:

Prepare the sauce:

In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey or brown sugar. Set aside.

Stir-Fry:

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Add the sliced onion to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.

Add the julienned carrots and sliced red bell pepper to the skillet. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.

Add the thinly sliced cabbage to the skillet. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the cabbage is wilted but still slightly crisp.

Pour the prepared sauce over the cabbage and vegetables in the skillet. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly and everything is heated through.

Season and Serve:

Taste the stir-fry and season with salt and pepper to your liking.

Serve the sweet and sour cabbage stir-fry hot over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.

Enjoy your flavorful and easy-to-prepare February cabbage dish!
