Probably dating back to prehistoric times, liquids that are similar to beer have been around. 

In the year 10,000 BCE, it is believed that the Godin Tepe town,  

which is located in what is now Iran, was the location where the first known beer was produced.

Nevertheless, there is irrefutable evidence that by the year 4,000 BCE, the Sumerians were drinking beer in Mesopotamia. 

By the year 3,000 B.C., it had already made its way to Europe, and over the course of several centuries,  

Germany became particularly well-known for its professional brewers.
